It's a common misconception that impact sockets and chrome sockets are interchangeable and are much of the same THIS IS INCORRECT

Impact sockets are specially designed for use with an Impact wrench which exerts enormous levels of impact force that will shatter, crack or even in some cases explode conventional chrome sockets. In order to prevent this, impact sockets are made of a more malleable softer metal compound and given thicker walls to absorb the impact force exerted, however when used on a breaker bar or ratchet the softer metal compound will have a lower tensile strength
